GENERAL INFORMATION

We generate renewable energy, mainly hydroelectricity, through small-scale plants. Additionally, the protection and management of our watersheds has resulted in the development of agroforestry projects that protect the soil and rivers while providing local families with job opportunities.

REDUCED EMISSIONS

Carbon credits are certificates for reduced emissions. They undergo a strict process of registration, verification, and certification before the United Nations as it authorizes projects whose operations represent a reduction or cessation of greenhouse gas emissions.

Since the establishment of the first international certification mechanism for reduced emissions for developing countries, Grupo Secacao has developed its renewable energy generation projects under the guidelines of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), which is backed by the United Nations and the Kyoto Protocol.
